Hi there! I’m Venetia, I’m 26 years old, and I live in the UK. I volunteer as a visitor services assistant and object handling assistant at a couple of museums in the South of England.
When it comes to fiction, I really enjoy reading fantasy, myths and legends, historical fantasy, myth retellings, psychological thrillers, spy thrillers, historical fiction, and literary fiction.
As for non-fiction, I enjoy reading a lot about history, particularly ancient history because I studied Classics and Ancient History at university. I also enjoy reading travel accounts, books about various places in the world, and I’ve got an interest astronomy too.
Some specific themes I love in fiction are: secret societies, weird and/or dark magic, epic fantasy world building and settings, witches, strong women, and books that go against the normal trappings and tropes of their genre.
Here are a few books I’ve rated 5 star to give you an idea as to my reading tastes:
- Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
- The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
- The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab
- Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
- Morgan is My Name by Sophie Keetch
- Ithaca by Claire North
- Real Tigers by Mick Herron
- Greek and Roman Necromancy by Daniel Ogden
- The Hemlock Cup by Bettany Hughes
All my reviews are 100% genuine. They tend to be books I’ve bought myself for my own reading pleasure, and if I do ever get any ARCs from publishers or NetGalley I don’t let it sway my opinion.
